500ƱScores Big With Atlanta Hawks

 

ATLANTA – March 2, 2015 – 500Ʊ (MSM) scored big with the Atlanta Hawks as part of a special 500Ʊ40th Anniversary event. Nearly 400 500Ʊfaculty, staff, students, family and friends came out to Philips Arena on Friday, February 27, 2015, to show support for 500ƱNight with the Hawks. Each person who purchased a ticket to the game through 500Ʊreceived a free t-shirt.

 

The night began with a pre-game reception, at the Arena, that included music, food and fun. During the game, 500ƱPresident and Dean Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice was acknowledged for contributing to black history. She is the first African-American female to lead a free-standing medical school. At halftime, Dr. Montgomery Rice and 500Ʊsecond-year M.D. student Jessica Livsey were invited to come out onto the floor. Livsey even had the opportunity to attempt to shoot the ball from center court. 

 

The eventful day was also deemed “500ƱSpirit Day” by 500Ʊleadership. So, on Friday faculty, staff and students were encouraged to wear 500Ʊparaphernalia.
